While majority of US high school seniors will have a senior photo session for their yearbook, and some photos for parents to place on the wall, some will use this opportunity to connect with the photographer and create a work of art. Fine art senior portrait session takes planing, concept, wardrobe and artistic vision of both photographer and subject. I love creating fine art portraits, because of freedom to bend reality, explore creative juices blending and seeing the final product of beautiful art on the wall.
Sometimes it starts with a sketch, sometimes , just seeing a beautiful background, architectural piece or fabric, and sometimes its music or book. Pulling all the elements together is more than just going through the checklist. When I get to create fine art portrait, the photo session seems to fly by. I get excited as I visualize creating final piece, adding elements and textures in post-processing.
