This Behind the business post features Brigitte Todd - owner of Clutter TOSS.
While doing early spring cleaning this year, I was thinking of Brigitte quite a bit - and a lot of my "stuff" found its way to charity and garbage. It amazes me how quick a shelf can fill up or papers pile up on the corner of the desk. It seems just one day I think " I have to look at this a bit later" and next thing you know there is a pile growing.
I actually met Brigitte through her work at 4-H Oakland County Fair where I volunteered as a Photography judge. But Brigitte volunteers on a next level - she is the Chair for Exhibit Hall and puts in countless hours to make the Oakland County Fair a success.
Brigitte loves organizing - she said - if she wouldn't need the money, she'd still do it. She started her de-cluttering business journey by helping out friends - but requests grew and Clutter Toss was born. She helps people who need to sell a house and get it in order, people who downsize, as well as people who need the help to de-clutter but have no idea where to start.
Here are few of her tips to get a head start
1. everything needs a home.
2. de-clutter anything that is broken, not useful, or a duplicate.
3. Remember less is more.
Also de-cluttering takes time. It took a while to get into the cluttered condition it is it will take a while to get out of that cluttered condition. Nothing happens overnight
I have put her advise to good use , but there is still more work to be done.
If you need help with decluttering - Brigitte offers a variety of services and more info you can find on her website ClutterToss
